The Wilson Course is the longer of the two 18-hole municipal courses at Griffith Park, laid out by celebrated architect George C. Thomas Jr. — the designer of Riviera, Bel-Air and Los Angeles Country Club. Playing to a par of 72 at 6,679 yards beneath the San Gabriel foothills, Wilson is a mature, tree-lined parkland course and one of the most-played municipal layouts in Los Angeles.

The Layout

Wilson is the stiffer test of the two Griffith Park courses — longer than its neighbor Harding, with tree-lined fairways, mature specimen trees and the Santa Monica Mountains as a backdrop. Thomas's routing rewards position play into greens that, while not severe, ask for a controlled approach. As a City of Los Angeles muni it sees enormous play, so tee sheets fill quickly, especially on weekends.
