Griffith Park — Wilson Golf Course

Wilson is one of the City of Los Angeles’s two 18-hole courses in Griffith Park. Opened in 1927, it occupies a forested setting with gently sloping fairways; the city describes it as a long municipal test that hosts city championship events. The nearby Harding Course is a separate booking, although both share the Griffith Park golf facilities.

Playing Wilson

Tree-lined corridors and the mild slopes make placement from the tee valuable. The city’s current tee table offers Black, Blue, White and Yellow options, with a large length spread between them; choose a set that gives you manageable approaches rather than selecting solely by the course’s reputation. The city’s local rules identify out-of-bounds on the right of holes 9, 11 and 15 and behind several greens, plus penalty areas near holes 14 and 15. Reviewing those boundaries before the round can prevent a surprise on an unfamiliar hole.

That event history gives the course a stronger tournament pedigree than its ordinary municipal access might suggest. For everyday play, the course remains a public option, with Harding nearby if the available times or desired length work better there.

At Griffith Park

Wilson and Harding share a lighted driving range, putting facilities, a golf shop, restaurant and instruction, according to the city course page. Rental clubs and carts are listed there as well.
