Harding is one of two 18-hole municipal courses at Griffith Park and the older of the pair, opened in 1923. Originally routed by George C. Thomas Jr. — architect of Riviera, Bel-Air and Los Angeles Country Club — and later refined by William P. Bell and William Johnson, it plays to a par of 72 at 6,714 yards. Slightly more forgiving than its neighbor Wilson, Harding is a tree-lined parkland course beneath the Griffith Park hills and one of the busiest municipal layouts in Los Angeles.

The Layout

Harding shares the Griffith Park valley floor with the Wilson Course and is generally the more forgiving of the two — a touch shorter, with wide tree-lined corridors and gentle contours that make it a friendly walk for players of most levels. The two courses share a clubhouse, pro shop and lighted driving range, and together form one of the largest municipal golf complexes in the country.
