Malbon’s planned Malibu shop would put golf clothing among the fashion stores of Cross Creek Ranch. A City of Malibu staff report identifies a 1,573-square-foot space in Unit 470 at 23465 Civic Center Way.

The brand now lists Malibu on its own store locator, paired with a “Coming Soon” image. As of September 17, 2026, that listing gives no opening date or store hours. The location is a confirmed part of Malbon’s plans; a visit still needs confirmation from the operator.

What is on the record

The city report, prepared April 9 for the April 20 Planning Commission meeting, concerns Formula Retail Clearance No. 26-004. Staff found the proposed space compliant with the city’s size and retail-concentration criteria. The report describes an administrative clearance process, not a shop-opening announcement.

A leasing brochure for nearby retail space also lists Malbon as forthcoming at Cross Creek Ranch. It corroborates the location, but leasing material can remain online after circumstances change. The brand’s own listing is the more useful source for its current presentation.

There is one address discrepancy to flag: Malbon’s locator prints 23456 Civic Center Way, while the city file gives 23465. Both identify Suite or Unit 470. We use the city’s address here; confirm directions with Malbon before traveling.

Golf clothing in a fashion neighborhood

Stephen and Erica Malbon founded the company in Los Angeles in 2017. The brand describes an approach built around self-expression, collaboration and apparel. Its Malibu plan offers a local example of what that positioning looks like in physical retail.

The city’s tenant schedule includes Kith, Frame and Ray-Ban at Cross Creek Ranch. For a golf label, that setting creates a different encounter from a course pro shop. Someone browsing for clothes can come across the game through a jacket or a pair of trousers, without arriving as a player looking for equipment.

That is an interpretation of the location, rather than a claim about Malbon’s internal strategy. The company has not supplied the Malibu shop’s design, stock list or event program in the sources reviewed here. A place on the tenant list tells us where the brand wants to be; it does not yet tell us what the store will feel like.

Malbon’s San Francisco boutique provides another neighborhood-retail comparison. The photograph accompanying this article shows that Fillmore Street store, not the future Malibu interior.

Before making the trip

Check Malbon’s store locator for an opening announcement, directions and hours. Fitting services, golf events and Malibu-specific merchandise remain unconfirmed in the materials reviewed for this story.

For now, the interesting development is the choice of setting: an LA-founded golf brand taking a place in Malibu’s fashion retail district. The next useful update will be about what customers can actually find there.

Update, September 17, 2026: Added Malbon’s own coming-soon listing and the address discrepancy between that listing and the city record.
