Who plays for Los Angeles?
LA’s five-player roster is Aki Iwai, Alison Lee, Gaby López, Kiara Romero and Michelle Wie West, per WTGL’s team list. Each match features three players per side. The league has not confirmed LA’s opening three, so the roster should not be read as a starting lineup.
Lee has a direct LA connection: she was born in Los Angeles and played at UCLA, her WTGL profile says. Wie West is a U.S. Women’s Open champion. The league’s roster announcement introduces the rest of the group and their playing backgrounds. New York’s roster includes Lydia Ko and Rose Zhang, though its opening lineup also remains to be confirmed.
What is WTGL?
WTGL is a women’s team competition created by TMRW Sports in partnership with the LPGA. It uses the arena format familiar from men’s TGL: three players per team, a large simulator screen and a short-game area. Matches are designed to last about two hours. Five teams play ten regular-season matches, and the top four advance to the playoffs, according to WTGL. Los Angeles Golf Club has a separate men’s TGL roster.
