Los Angeles Golf Club begins the 2027 TGL season as the defending SoFi Cup champion. The four players who won it are back, and Ben James arrives as a fifth option. Last season’s finish gives LA a strong base, but the new roster size means every match still begins with a choice: which three players fit that opponent and that night?

LA swept Jupiter Links in the 2026 Finals, winning 6–5 and 9–2. The clincher included three straight eagles and a nine-point run over five holes after LA fell behind early. TGL’s Finals recap captures how quickly this team could take control.

Player by player: 2026 recap and 2027 outlook

The scoring figures below are from LA’s official 2026 regular-season player table. Triples points are credited to the players in a winning team lineup, so they should be read alongside Singles results and the playoff record. TGL’s roster announcement confirms all five names for 2027.

Collin Morikawa

Morikawa led LA’s regular-season scoring with 22 total points, second among TGL players: 17 in Triples and five in Singles. He won three Singles holes. A back injury then kept him out of the postseason, according to TGL’s championship analysis. Prediction: a healthy Morikawa is back in LA’s preferred lineups, but his 2026 absence proved the club can win without making him indispensable.

Justin Rose

Rose finished with 18 regular-season points, including 17 in Triples, and won one Singles hole. His value was most visible in LA’s shared play: the club is 6–1 in matches where Rose and Tommy Fleetwood both appeared across two seasons, TGL reports. Rose also delivered the three-point finishing hole in the 2026 clincher. Prediction: he remains the lineup constant when LA wants its strongest Triples rhythm.

Tommy Fleetwood

Fleetwood contributed 15 regular-season points, 12 in Triples and three in Singles, with two Singles holes won. His pairing with Rose is one of the clearest pieces of evidence for LA’s team chemistry. Prediction: Fleetwood stays central to the title defense, especially when the club wants a lineup that already knows how to score together under pressure.

Sahith Theegala

Theegala had 13 regular-season points, 11 in Triples and two in Singles. He stepped in when Morikawa was injured and became decisive in the Finals: his play on the last hole helped secure Match 1, and his two-point putt helped break open Match 2, as TGL recounts. Prediction: LA should not treat him as a reserve. His postseason work earned him a real claim to start even when all five players are available.

Ben James

James did not play TGL last season; this will be his league debut. He earned PGA Tour membership as the No. 1 player in the 2026 PGA Tour University Ranking. LAGC says he made nine of his first ten cuts as a professional, with four top-five finishes. Prediction: LA can introduce him without asking him to lead. The question is how quickly his scoring translates to Triples and the arena’s short-game surface.

Why the champion can repeat

LA led TGL across the 2026 regular season and playoffs with 27 Triples holes won and 31 Triples points won, according to the league. It also led ScreenZone strokes-gained categories last season and made 65.5% of putts from five to ten feet, TGL’s statistical preview says. This was a complete team rather than a one-player surge.

The countercase is real. LA was 3–2 in the 2026 regular season, and The Bay beat it 11–5. A five-player roster gives LA more choices, but a poor three-player combination can still cost a match. A new seventh team, Motor City Golf Club, adds another opponent. Championship experience gives LA an edge; it does not guarantee the same late putting or Hammer outcomes.

Our 2027 prediction

Our early pick is LA to reach the Finals and repeat as SoFi Cup champion. The Rose–Fleetwood connection, Morikawa’s regular-season production and Theegala’s postseason proof make it the deepest known combination in the league. James raises the upside. The most likely way this prediction fails is lineup friction: rotating five names without preserving the Triples chemistry that drove 2026.

The first lineup announcement will be revealing. If Morikawa, Rose and Fleetwood reunite, watch whether they create an early Triples lead. If Theegala gets the nod, watch whether his Finals shot-making carries over. James’s debut will be interesting, but there is no need to rush a player who has not yet competed in TGL.

Los Angeles 2027 match schedule

TGL’s 2027 season opens Sunday, December 27, 2026, but the league says its full match schedule is still to come.
