Course History
Old Ranch Country Club opened in 1967 on land that had long belonged to the Bixby family's historic ranch holdings in Seal Beach — the "Old Ranch" property that gave the club its name. Ted Robinson Sr., the prolific Southern California architect renowned for his ornamental lakes and waterfalls, laid out the championship course across roughly 128 acres of former ranchland in northern Orange County, threading tree-lined fairways among the water features that became his trademark.
The course was extensively reworked at the turn of the millennium, when the surrounding Bixby Ranch property was redeveloped under a 1999 development agreement with the City of Seal Beach; golf directories date the rebuilt Robinson layout to 2001. A restriction in that agreement keeps the site zoned for recreation, golf, or open space into 2029, preserving the course as one of the area's largest green spaces. Today Old Ranch is operated by Invited (formerly ClubCorp), pairing the golf course with the Homestead dining room, a fitness center, pool, and event facilities.
