Lakewood Country Club

Lakewood Country Club is a public Los Angeles County course in Lakewood despite its country-club name. Opened in 1933 and designed by William P. Bell, it pairs a long, generally level parkland routing with mature trees and two large lakes, according to the operator’s course overview. Golfers can book a round directly through the operator.

The course

The 18-hole course plays to par 72 and reaches 7,010 yards from the back tees. The operator lists a 73.2 rating and 129 slope for that length. Its relatively flat terrain does not remove the need for course management: water borders several holes, and the wide fairways leave players to decide how aggressively to set up an approach. Lakewood’s history includes the California State Open and senior women’s amateur competition, but its everyday tee sheet is open to public play.
