C.W. Koiner is Course No. 1 at Brookside, the City of Pasadena’s two-course public complex beside the Rose Bowl. The operator distinguishes Koiner from the shorter E.O. Nay Course. Koiner is the longer championship-style option, so verify “Course #1” in the booking calendar before selecting a time.

The Koiner scorecard lists Gold tees at 7,104 yards, par 72, with a men’s rating of 74.5 and slope of 134. Blue, White and Red tees provide shorter alternatives. The card’s routing places a flood-control channel in the playing area and treats it as a no-play zone; follow the posted penalty-area markings rather than entering it to retrieve a ball. Road edges, fences and the driving-range boundary also matter to the local rules. This is useful preparation for a first round at a busy municipal property.

Its local instructions also ask players to keep carts on paths near tees and greens and on par 3s unless signs say otherwise. Reviewing the card is especially useful when a Rose Bowl event changes the usual course setup.

Plan around the Rose Bowl

Brookside’s practice facility includes a Toptracer range, putting greens, a chipping area and a practice bunker. The FAQ says public tee times can generally be reserved up to 14 days ahead and that the range may close early for Monday maintenance. Rose Bowl events can close or alter the courses and range, as the operator’s event calendar shows. Check it alongside the live tee sheet before traveling.
